Dorris Heffron is a local author and beloved parishioner of St. George's. Dorris's 2024 novel "Bear With Me" is Canadian born and educated and began her writing career when teaching part time for Oxford University throughout the 1970s. Her first three novels, published internationally, are regarded as pioneers in the genre now known as Young Adult Literature. Returning to Canada in 1980, Heffron has been widely active in the Canadian writing community, Chairing The Writers Union of Canada in 2013-14. She wrote, "A Shark in the House" and the historical fiction "City Wolves" which continues to sell over 15 years after publication. "Bear With Me" is connected to "City Wolves" but different and contemporary. All her novels are uniquely Canadian.
